Join us for two engaging plenary sessions led by distinguished speakers who will share insights on key conservation topics. 


Patricia Rosa (St. George’s University, Grenada): Linked Fates: Detectability Patters of the Grenada Dove and Its Predator


Dr. Patricia Rosa is the founder of FCAL, Associate Professor and Deputy Chair of the Department of Biology, Ecology and Conservation at St. George’s University, Grenada, where she also directs the undergraduate Marine, Wildlife and Conservation Biology program. She works on enhancing the program's curriculum and securing international accreditation from the Royal Society of Biology. Dr. Rosa specializes in avian ecology, animal behavior, habitat conservation, and quantitative analysis. She earned her Ph.D. in Natural Resources and Environmental Management from the University of Manitoba, Canada, in 2019. Her doctoral research explored the impact of oil infrastructure noise on migratory grassland songbirds and was published in reputable journals such as Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution. She also holds an M.Sc. in Animal Behavior and a B.Sc. in Animal Physiology from Université de Montréal. Dr. Rosa’s current projects include strengthening engagement in the protection of the Grenada Dove, studying the effects of traffic noise on neotropical birds, assessing human impacts on migratory bird habitats in mangroves, and analyzing bird strike risks in Grenada. She employs an interdisciplinary approach and collaborates with various stakeholders, including academia, industry, NGOs, and government.


Danielle Guy (T.A. Marryshow Community College, Grenada): TBA


Daneille Guy is an environmental scientist with a passion for field-based research and sustainable development. She holds a degree in Marine and Wildlife Conservation from St. George’s University and recently completed a Master’s in Public Health with a focus on Environmental and Occupational Health. For over eight years, she has been an Assistant Lecturer at T. A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC), where she teaches Environmental Science and inspires the next generation of environmental stewards. Daneille is committed to scientific research, sustainability initiatives, and fostering a deeper understanding of marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Over the past four years, she has collaborated with colleagues from the Marine Institute in Newfoundland, Canada, to develop and execute the Environmental Technology program at TAMCC, providing students with hands-on field research experiences throughout Grenada.

Roundtable @ Varsity: Island connection and challenges

This session explores the shared and unique challenges faced by students and faculty working in the field of conservation in Grenada and Newfoundland. Participants will discuss how island-specific factors, including ecological, social, and cultural contexts, influence conservation efforts. By comparing experiences, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of how geographical and institutional settings shape conservation strategies and collaboration opportunities.

Mix and mingle: Game on!

Join us at Varsity in Container Park for a lively afternoon of networking, idea-sharing, and connection-building in a relaxed atmosphere. Put your competitive spirit to the test with our Inter-Island Tournament featuring games like Jumbo Jenga, Hopscotch, and Ring Toss. Participants are responsible for their own expenses. Come ready to play and connect!
